Edgar is the campus minister of the Newman Center in Chico. He is originally from Ripon, CA. At the age of 16 Edgar was diagnosed with an illness that transformed the way he viewed life and the world around him. At the same time, he was attending Confirmation class, where, through the pastor and confirmation staff, he experienced God's transforming love for the first time. After overcoming the illness, Edgar began attending youth group and helping in the confirmation program as a youth facilitator. As the years went on and he entered adulthood, Edgar joined the core team of his local youth group and join a group of young men who were of fire about studying and discussing theology. He fell in love with the rich history and theology of Catholicism. Edgar attended Franciscan University of Steubenville where he attained his bachelors degree in theology. During his time in Steubenville, he worked as a student worker for the St. Paul Center for Biblical Theology, an apostolate founded by Dr. Scott Hahn. After attaining his degree, Edgar felt a tug at his heart to minister to young adults which eventually lead him to Chico. Now he is prepared and excited to share the Faith in a proactive way!
Hobbies include: I love movies, especially comic book movies! I also enjoy lifting weights, hiking & practicing Muay Thai (Thai kickboxing). I enjoy reading & discussing theology, philosophy, & history. I also enjoy listening to Catholic talks.
Favorite thing about Catholicism: I love the biblical foundations of our Faith & the growth & consistency of Catholic Tradition. I also the fact that we as Catholics have the honor to truly be one with Jesus in the Eucharist.
Email Edgar to set up a coffee or tea meeting on campus, or stop by the Newman Center to meet him!
